Airborne Entertainment, a subsidiary of CYBIRD Co., Ltd., announced an exclusive deal with Harmony Gold USA, Inc. to bring the legendary anime series "Robotech" to mobile phones. As one of the first anime series to bridge the continental gap and truly take hold in North America, the "Robotech" suite of wireless content will include wallpapers, ringtones and ringback tones, with a mobile game just a few steps behind. The content will be made available across major carriers later this year.
"Airborne has been extremely successful in mobilizing many highly recognized brands and we are thrilled to be able to offer ringtones, wallpapers, and games to our loyal "Robotech" and anime fans," commented Christy Pawlak, Director of Business Development for Harmony Gold, who helped negotiate the deal.
For over 20 years, "Robotech" has helped pave the way for anime's acceptance outside its native Japan, earning a distinction as one of the greatest science fiction epics of all time. Based on the solid foundation of compelling narrative and characters - along with incredible action sequences - "Robotech" has spearheaded the genre's foray into theatrical imports, remakes, specialized anime television networks and a full spectrum of influences on domestic pop culture. "We can't wait to see the impact it has on wireless," added Andy Nulman, President of Airborne Entertainment. |
