Founded in 1936, Animation Film Studio "Soyuzmultfilm" is considered one of the largest Animated Film Studios in Europe. In the course of the "Soyuzmultfilm's" history, more than 1500 animated films have been produced, making this collection of leading masters of outstanding animation recognized worldwide. Films from this collection contributed to the Golden Fund of World Animation. Renowned animators such as Yuri Norstein, Fjodor Khitruk, Andrei Khrzhanovsky, Lev Atamanov, Ivan Ivanov-Vano, Efim Gamburg, Garry Bardin, Natalia Dabizha and many others who have worked at this legendary studio, left their impact on the creation of the collection of Film Fund of Animation Film Studio "Soyuzmultfilm".
To name the numerous awards which our collection has won at international festivals is impossible. Just to cite an example, "The Tale of Tales" by Yuri Norstein, was named the best animated film of all time from a survey that was conducted by the Commission of the Academy Awards in Hollywood in 1984.

Film Fund "Soyuzmultfilm" includes the collection of cartoons that were produced by the studio and established an excellence for classical Russian animation. Many cartoons produced by "Soyuzmultfilm" experienced huge success in Asia. For example, "Cheburashka" became very popular in Japan, after the animated film series about him was shown in 15 cinemas all over Japan, and were viewed by estimated 700,000 Japanese between the summer of 2001 and the spring of 2002.
