Award-Winning Gauder Launches His Second Feature Project

Tamas Liszka
Producer of "EGILL"
SzimplaFilm / Lichthof Productions

Having collected the most precious awards on animation festivals worldwide with his first feature in 2005, Annecy and Ottawa winning Aron Gauder teams up with his creative crew once again. The new film runs under the title EGILL, and won't be any less wild, provocative, ironical or eyecatching as its predecessor, the DISTRICT ("Nyocker") whose theatrical rights were sold to more than a dozen territories so far.

EGILL is scheduled for release in 2009 as a coproduction of several Nordic and Central European countries. The story follows the adventurous life of Egill Skallagrymsson, a bloodthirsty Viking warrior blessed with a fine lyric talent, often regarded as the first surrealist poet. The nearly thousand year old Icelandic saga that serves as the basis of the script, oddly enough, needs only minor changes to be fit for a suspenseful 3D action comedy, targeted mainly at young adult audiences.
