Endemol International Expands into Central and Eastern Europe

Endemol boasts a vast and thriving format base in Central and Eastern Europe, driven by brand loyalty and strong relationships with its subsidiaries and broadcaster partners.

Recent sales include a range of formats that have performed well around the world. Broadcaster Nova TV will continue its run of success with a third season of "Big Brother" in Bulgaria, set to air later this year. Croatia will also be launching a third series of "Big Brother" on RTL in addition to the HRT launch of the Match. These formats will follow the ratings triumph of Croatia 's first edition of "Fear Factor", which recently premiered on RTL.

Furthermore, a first series of "Big Brother" has been commissioned for a September launch in Albania and Serbia as well as Bosnia, having acquired rights to the Serbian version. Endemol Poland and Endemol Russia have re-commissioned worldwide blockbuster "Deal or No Deal" as well as Slovenia for Pop TV, Croatia for HRT, and Hungary for TV2. Other titles also up for renewed series are Judgement Day in Romania on Antena 1 and "All You Need Is Love", in both Romania and Serbia. Continuing the trend of game show rollouts, Endemol offers international hit game show, "1 vs. 100", to Central and Eastern European TV Channels. Following the success of "Deal or No Deal", the UK and US have secured the rights to "1 versus 100", which has already successfully aired in over 11 countries worldwide. Local versions of the popular game show will debut later this year on NBC and the BBC.

Laura Rhodarmer, Licensing Manager of Endemol International BV comments: "Endemol formats have already proven to be hugely successful in schedules across Central and Eastern Europe, and we look forward to working with new and existing clients to bring even more Endemol content to the regions."

A wide-ranging portfolio also incorporates Telenovelas, drama, factual and reality shows. These include Endemol Argentina 's "Doble Vida" ("Double Life"). The drama of love stories and turmoil that surround the six main characters in this modern day Telenovelas has made it a major prime time hit for America TV Channel 2. Factual programs include "Larger than Life" - 4 stories about people whose lives are affected by obesity. The series is produced by Brighter Pictures (part of Endemol UK ) and is currently enjoying prime-time success in the UK on Five. The drama slate includes detective series "Gripstra & De Grier", produced by NL Film and TV, and "Baantjer" produced by Endemol Netherlands. The USA 's reality blockbusters "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" Series 3 and "Fear Factor" Series 6 are also among the highlights. The first of these continues to be one of ABC's highest rated shows while the second has now gone into syndication in the USA.

Matt Creasey, Head of Sales, Finished Programs, comments: "More than ever, there's a real appetite for scripted genres such as Telenovelas in Eastern Europe and this is a key part of what we have to offer."
