Eldorado Brings Spanish Films on MIPCOM

Eldorado Brings Spanish Films on MIPCOM

Eldorado was created in early 2005 by Mocha Aguilar, who co-founded some years ago Aurum Producciones, one of the leaders of the independent film industry in Spain. Eldorado was created with the objective of strengthening, diffusing and distributing Spanish films beyond their frontiers. Thus, since its appearance, Eldorado has been present in the most important venues of the industry: MIF, MIPCOM, AFM, EFM.

Suspiros del Corazón (Sighs of the Herat)

With barely a year gone by since its creation, Eldorado Internacional already has amongst its filmography over 50 Spanish Films, representing some of the most important independent production companies of Spain such as Aurum, Morena Films, Notro Films.

Eldorado also represents the filmography of one of the most important Spanish Filmmakers: José Luis Garci, the first Spanish Director to win the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, with "To Begin Again" in 1983.

Eldorado comes to this new edition of MIPCOM with a very diverse slate. Among these new films features Alfredo Montero's opera prima: "Children". This new film, which was very well received in the last edition of the Montreal World Film Festival, tries to analyze and denounce through four intertwined stories the impact of sexual abuse on children, and how unfortunately this behaviour tends to repeat itself by those who have suffered such abuse.

The new slate includes "Sighs From The Heart", the new film of director, Enrique Gabriel, selected for this year's edition of the International Moscow Film Festival and the Montreal World Film Festival. This film is a crazy romantic comedy which satirizes about the world of cheap astrology and those who choose vital decisions according to these predictions.

In this new slate we can also find heart-warming documentaries like "THE MAGICIANS" (Zabaltegui Section in San Sebastian 2004), which tells the particular experience of a group of old men who went through the horror of the Spanish Civil War as children in an orphanage. But kind of like in "La Vita É Bella" they did not realize what was really going on because in the orphanage, a filmmaker in hiding used these children as actors for a film immersing them in the unreal, fantasy world of the story they were filming.

And finally the documentary "Manolo Recycle's" (Selezione Ufficiale in Locarno 2004), which shows the way of life of a homeless person from Madrid. This documentary unveils the reasons of why he ended up in the street, and shows how he finally dies on a public hospital from cirrhosis. A story about someone who has not been treated well by life and who finishes his days devoured by the speed of any big city, which wont stop to help those who are left behind.
