What Western European markets are most important for Latin American Telenovelas?
We believe that all western European markets are very important for our telenovelas and teleseries. Actually, our teleseries are being broadcasted in markets like Spain and Germany. Moreover, Portugal is producing one of our formats (¨Floribella¨). Our main goal is to enter in all of the western European countries. We are looking forward to be also included in countries like: Italy, France, Germany and the U.K.
Your telenovelas "Tiny Angels", " Rebel Way " and "Flinderella" are very successful in many countries around the world. Can you tell us what countries purchased these telenovelas?
All of our teleseries have been broadcasted in more than 30 countries, with an average share of 35 to 40%. Some of the countries which are broacasting our already made productions and / or formats are: Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Rep. Dominicana, U.S.A. (Hispanic), Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Panama, Spain, Germany, Portugal, India, Israel, Eastern Europe, Russia, Malasya, etc.. This last year, we have been also growing in worldwide cable networks.
Do you sell telenovelas as formats or as ready-made products?
We sell them both ways. Some markets are format buyers and some are as ready made episodes. It depends on the customs of the local audience and population size. Generally the countries with large populations have larger budgets and are more inclined to buy formats. Anyway, it varies upon population, budget, production infrastructure, etc. Telefe International is in charge of distributing most of our ready made telenovelas and formats.
What products do you currently have in production?
A this time we are producing 3 teleseries / sitcoms. Two for Argentina and then we sell it overseas as closed episodes (as already made teleseries). These two are: ¨Pirate Soul¨ and ¨Tiny Angels¨. The third one is a format that we are producing locally with Mexican actors for our format ¨Loony Love¨ (sitcom). We are also assisting to other countries with the production of our formats. Those countries are: Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Portugal and Colombia.
Do you have products in co-production in Western Europe ?
At this time, for Western Europe, we are assisting in the production of our format in Portugal. Even though, we are constantly receiving proposals from many countries.
What do you expect from MIPCOM 2006?
We have high expectations for this Mipcom. We believe that we are going to be very successful with ¨Pirate Soul¨ and ¨Tiny Angels¨. We also believe that we are going to be growing in Western European markets and in format sales. (We have sold formats to 7 markets already, in some of them, with repeated sales of additional formats).
