What are your acquisition strategies?

In general, YLE is looking for animation with original design style, imaginative stories and strong characters. I acquire both series and specials. Series formats of 5', 10', 13 or 26' are preferred. Specials can be anything between 3'-26' long. YLE kids programs are targeted to kids aged 2-12 years old.

During the weekdays (Monday to Friday), we air one hour of children programming each day. 30'of animation and 30' of in-house produced magazine show that airs one animation filler series of 5'-10' per day. During the weekends we start at 8 am. Both days we air 2 hours of programming. The first hour is targeted for kids 2-6 years old. The second hour is targeted for kids 7-12 years old. The programming is a combination of in-house produced shows and acquired shows that have the format of 5'-26'.

What programs are you looking for?

I am looking for animation that fits into our above mentioned slots and has long shelf life.

Can you name the most successful titles that you acquired in 2005/06?

"Lunar Jim", "Franklin", "Zombie Hotel", "Planet Sketch", "Jakers!", "Postman Pat", "Lazy Lucy", "Peppa Pig", "Poko and Charlie" and "Lola".

What programs will be in demand at MIPCOM 2006?

Strong, character driven 26' pre-school shows as well as funny, quirky boys shows that do not contain violence.
