What are your acquisition strategies?
Our acquisition strategy is, echoed with our mission, to broaden the global vision of our audience. We aim to showcase the quality programming with diversified point of views. Those programs should feature new trends, environment and technology, new ideas and lifestyles, human rights, history and politics, and last but not least, family values.
What genres are you looking for?
Basically, we're seeking all kinds of categories including drama series, children, animation, documentaries, current affairs and sport, etc.
Can you give us several titles of domestic / international programming that you acquired this year?
In terms of domestic programming, we have acquired the long-time favorite Taiwanese Opera known as Gezaixi, and some locally produced dramas and movies. As for international acquisitions, we bought some acclaimed US drama series such as Commander in Chief, NCIS III and the documentaries, like Giant Buddha, 20 Days without TV, Power Play, The World According to Google, Prehistoric Park.
How many hours of programming will you acquire this year?
For this year, we have acquired around 200 hrs.
Do you have an increase or decrease in your acquisition budget in comparison with last year?
Compared with last year, due to the limited acquisition budget, we didn't expect any growth this year. However, there will be an increase for next year since more channels are joining TBS.
What programs will be in demand at ATF 2006?
We will launch a HDTV trial broadcasting channel in the beginning of 2008. So we're now looking for quality programs made in HD at ATF 2006.
