Can you tell us about French experience of sales into Asia-Pacific Region?

The Asia-Pacific region represented 10 per cent of French TV Exports in 2005. Exports to Asia have been growing regularly over the past years.

What are the most important Asian markets for the French producers? What key-deals did they have in Asia ?

There are three key markets for us at the moment: China (32% of sales to Asia), Australia / New Zealnd (22%) and Japan (21%). The rapid development of new technologies opens new platforms for sellers.

Have French companies already ventured into new technologies (IPTV, VOD, mobile TV, etc) in Asia-Pacific?

Yes, there have been some deals on IPTV, VOD and mobile phone. The first deals were in Japan and Korea, but other countries such as Hong Kong or Singapore have also been rather buoyant in that area.

What programs will be in demand at ATF? Please give us your opinion.

Our sales to Asia have traditionally been strong in animation and documentary. There is also some demand for formats and game shows. We expect this year's ATF to confirm the trend.

Please, tell us about you latest Rendez-Vous in Saint-Tropez ? Was it a success?

The Rendez-Vous 2006 was very successful. For the first time, we welcomed over 200 buyers. The number of French exhibitors (54) and of programs available in our digital video library (785) was also on the increase. This generated a very high number of screenings (over 9000) and business was good as quite a few deals were signed on the spot. Saint-Tropez is also about doing business in a relaxed environment. Splendid weather and dinner at the Polo Club or at a beach under a full moon did create an unforgettable atmosphere for all participants!
