Can you tell us about your joint project with the administration of Krasnodar Krai for the constriction of a film studio in Anapa?
RWS signed an agreement concerning the strategic collaboration between the administration of Krasnodar Krai and the Film Studio "ANAPAFILM" during the annual economic forum "Kuban 2006" that was held last September. Our project is recognized by the administration of Krasnodar Krai as one of the most important projects in this region, one that allows us to rely on their assistance for the construction of the new film complex. The investments for the realization of the project will partially come from bank loans, and partially from private investors involved in this project. The project that is estimated at 100 million dollars, includes the constriction of pavilions and film stages in the region with the French name Bujor, and Varvarskaya Gorge, where the sea base for filming will be located. The main complex will cover 59 hectares, the sea based complex - 10 hectares. There will be 16 -18 pavilions, administration buildings, additional workshops, and a seaside filming stage, a concert hall, a hotel, a cottage settlement, as well as an entertainment park.
When are you planning on beginning the work of the studio?
We are planning to begin the first part of the construction in 2007, with the finished studio by 2010. The project is on the stage of the development now: we have located areas for the constriction of the studio, and we are preparing the foundation. In February-March, an American architect that has already worked on many projects for many worldwide film studios, in particular, for Disney Studios in Hollywood, will begin work on our project. In close collaboration with Russian architects, he will create the final architecture project of the studio.
From your point of view, what companies will use this studio?
We hope that this complex will attract not only domestic film producers, but international ones as well. We admit a heavyweight impact of the Russian cinematography school into world cinematography. The professionalism that was accumulated by decades on the wave of the interest and growth of the film industry in contemporary Russia, is able to lead to the breakthrough in attracting foreign filmmakers. More than that, an "external" factor will contribute to this process - this is an objective growth of costs for film services in Eastern Europe, following the inclusion of many countries into the European Union, as American film companies, big players on the market, film their projects in these countries.
