TV cartoon series "Little Amadeus" inspires children worldwide with classical music

The international success of TV star "Little Amadeus", the hero of the "Little Amadeus - The Adventures of the Young Mozart" cartoon series, continues in 2007. After the initial broadcast of the first 26 episodes on ARD and ZDF children's channels in Germany resulted in sensational viewing figures, meanwhile the series has been sold to 15 countries around the world, the story continues: apart from a sequel (working title: "Mozart Touring Around Europe Featuring Little Amadeus") to the ECHO award-winning television series "Little Amadeus", two new projects ("Little Amadeus Karaoke" and "Monti's World") are also being prepared for TV along with a major cinema project comprising a total of three films. Using the familiar and popular figure of "Little Amadeus", all of the formats are aimed at inspiring children to enjoy classical music in an intelligent, entertaining and playful manner. As for the TV series, the music for pending television and film projects will be recorded anew by famous orchestras and soloists.

Preparations for the planned 52-part "Mozart Touring around Europe Featuring Little Amadeus" series are well underway with the TV airing in Germany planned for 2008. The cartoon series focuses on the documented travels within Europe undertaken by the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, accompanied by his parents and sister. Children aged four to ten are invited to join "Little Amadeus" on an exciting adventure through Austria, Germany, France, England, Belgium, The Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Italy. "Like Mozart, those who travelled all around Europe with their parents as children can truly be termed original Europeans. But it is music, which ultimately made Mozart or "Little Amadeus" such a true European. We wish to emphasise this aspect for viewers of the series", claim producers Winfried Debertin and Peter Will. These trips undertaken by "Little Amadeus" are therefore underlined by music from the most popular and significant European composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Couperin, Gluck, Haydn, Handel, Lully, Rameau, Vivaldi and many others.

Based on the musical concept of the "Little Amadeus" TV series, young viewers of the "Little Amadeus Karaoke" production are invited to sing the nicest and most famous folk and children's songs themselves. Using entertaining and humorous animation, not only can children sing along with their familiar serial hero "Little Amadeus", they also have the opportunity to pick up their first English words and expressions in the process. This format was presented for the first time at the Asia-Television-Forum in Singapore in November 2006 where it received an immediate enthusiastic reception from the Asian market.

The "Monti's Welt" series focuses on the character so popular among child viewers: Monti the rat constantly attempts to make things difficult for Little Amadeus and his friend Pumperl in "The Adventures of the Young Mozart". In Monti's own particular way - with a twinkle in his eye and a know-it-all attitude - he explains the world of music to all of those who are not as clever in "Montis World".

The sequel to the TV series about "Little Amadeus" is a co-production by LAR Little Amadeus Realisierungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG with KI.KA, Sudwestrundfunk, Hessischer Rundfunk (hr) and Norddeutscher Rundfunk. The media production company GATEWAY4M - more fine music & media GmbH is responsible for international TV and licence distribution.

The major national and international success of the television series has encouraged the producers of "Little Amadeus" to commence realisation of the first of three films, comprising the cinema film project. The first film "Little Amadeus" is planned to hit cinemas in 2010. Here too, Little Amadeus and his friends will be experiencing lots of new adventures.
