According to recent surveys, Central and Eastern European marketplaces rank as the most important strategic licensing territories on the agenda of international television content and format distributors. This surely explains the surge in the number of TV content and formats sales organizations expected to attend the 15th anniversary edition of annual DISCOP market which will take place from 20 to 22 June at the Sofitel Atrium Hotel in Budapest: 400 international distributors and among them, more than 100 "newcomers" who never attended the market in the past. This is 30% increase over last year's figures.
As a prelude to this 15th anniversary edition of DISCOP, a new annual event, DISCOPRO, will be launched in partnership with the European Commission and the Association of Commercial Televisions in Europe. This new event will be dedicated to co-production opportunities in Central & Eastern Europe and its first edition, to take place on Tuesday 19 June, will present an in-depth overview of the EU, government and privately backed incentives available to stimulate pan-European co-productions in the CEE, followed by afternoon pre-organized meeting sessions between participants.
A conference will also be organized on the 2nd day of DISCOP 07 to help TV Stations better monetize their "late-night" advertising time slots. Numerous social events and networking opportunities, such as the Welcome Party, the Telenovelas Gala Evening and the HBO Boat Party are also scheduled.
