Can you give us 2 titles (TV Fiction or Formats) that had the biggest success in national adaptations in 2006?
" Stars on Stage " produced in Sweden, Portugal (with 43,4% share) and Ukraine. Now the show is moving into production in Indonesia and Brazil. The format sees celebrities pair up with well-known recording artists to perform daring duets on live TV. Over the course of ten weeks, viewers and a panel of music industry experts vote to find the best star pairing. " Top Dog " produced in Sweden, Germany and now in Norway. The show is optioned in Belgium, Italy, US and in development in UK. " Top Dog " is a comedy reality series that gives 10 dogs and their masters and mistresses the chance to win a modelling contract and the prestigious title of Top Dog Model of the Year.

Stars on Stage
In how many countries these shows were adapted? What are the reasons of success of these titles?
" Stars on Stage " is continuing to be a great success around the world because of the huge potential the format has for changing its shape to fit the right form for each market/country. From the beginning the format was created as a charity event and that is what they did with it in Portugal. However it can also be a good event piece or stripped over a week. Ultimately it is an exciting family entertainment show which incorporates different performances, various types of music - each episode gives us a unique journey... and an exciting competition. You also get to know celebrities in a new and different way so it has tremendous appeal. " Top Dog " works because almost everyone has a relationship with a dog or has a friend or neighbo u r who has a dog. The show is full of humo u r and is a real trend setter. I would say this is a success with the tag line " less is more ".
Can you tell us about advantages / difficulties of adaptation of your products for local cultures?
Both of these formats are straight forward to adapt to different markets. The core format is right there - we just need our production partners around the world to decorate this with the right casting and a good execution and you have a successful show.
What are the coming trends in localization of fiction and formats in Western Europe and in Eastern Europe ?
I think will see more " True TV " with that I mean TV that starts and are based upon the real world / issues of life. Next step will be the first " reality " where we do good causes and working for our environment on different levels. To make a " human revolution TV ", changes start with yourself. Zodiak Television is already working on this together with a TV station. As it creates more and more TV channels we will continue to deliver the reality we see today but it will look different on the bigger networks. TV is still the biggest trend creating force in media and the TV station will realize the need of binding people together as long as the TV stations has the power. Imagine a TV based community like " World of Warcraft " just with the real people and real problems... Maybe Eastern Europe will be the first one to start....
