RTI SpA - Mediaset Group
Italy
What are your acquisition strategies?
I scout the market both in search for programming suitable to fit in our already-existing slots and for innovative series that could be used to create and develop new areas in the schedules of one of my network TV channels.

Lays days of a Princess, RTI / BBC
What products are you looking for?
I am in charge of factual and documentaries for the Mediaset group that is the biggest commercial network in Italy with both a free and a pay TV offer and a total of 9 channels. We are currently looking for prime-time biographies of very popular and renewed individuals that could be relevant to the Italian public, big blue chip natural history series, WWII both b/w archives based and drama doc documentaries, festivals and games. We are always interested in screening docs with a religious content and as I said before we could also evaluate new and innovative series that could help in creating new slots.
What were your key acquisition deals in 2007?
We have renewed our three years long output deal with the BBC and even closed and agreement to co-produce with them the 6 hours series on the Bible, we have acquired, and in one case even decided to co-produce, a number of series from Canadian Cineplex (Urban legends, True CSI, Psychic Investigators) and we have also co-financed a number to projects from Italian independent production companies to develop Italian stories and content. At the same time, we continued working with our long- term partners such as Channel 4 and ZDFE.
What are your plans for MIPTV?
Besides receiving updates from my usual contacts, I plan to increase my contacts with new possible partners.
