What are your acquisition strategies?
Dogus is a Turkish Media conglomerate with a large interest in the media sector. We participate in various formats such as Television, Magazines, Radio Stations, and Web sites. With respect to our Television sector, we have NTV, a 24 hour news channel; CNBC-E, an economy and entertainment channel; E2, entertainment channel; and NTVSPOR, a dedicated sports channel. As may be evident, we do need a large variety of programming. Important for us we have already begun to acquire programming, primarily feature films, to license to other channels in Turkey. Our long term target will be to obtain programming that we can acquire not only for our channels but also for others too. Additionally, we will be looking to acquire the internet and mobile rights of our television acquisitions.
What products are you looking for?
With a diverse network of programming, we are in search of the best of the best – we are looking for series, films, documentaries, and special events like Award Ceremonies, animations, internet and mobile. Most of our content will probably be from the USA, UK, France, Italy and Spain. On the other hand, I would not want to draw border lines around us; the important factors here are the quality of the product and the interest of the audience. We are open to any program from anywhere around the world.
What were your key acquisition deals in 2007?
Last year, we acquired a large quantity of series, feature films, documentaries and formats; mostly from the USA and the UK.
What are your plans for MIPTV?
We will be focusing on the TV, mobile and internet rights of those with the best programming.
