What are your acquisition strategies?
We are at most of the major TV markets and are aware of what new product/s is launching or is being produced. We do a lot of research on what titles are rated in other countries, especially in Asia.
What products are you looking for?
This year, we are after formats of reality shows, game shows, select drama series whose canned versions rated in the Philippines. We source these various formats from the U.S., U.K., Latin America, and Korea.
What were your key acquisition deals in 2007?
In 2007, we acquired the format rights to produce the Mexican telenovela Marimar. The Filipino version of this popular drama is currently the number one show on primetime overall free TV channels in the Philippines. We also acquired the format rights to Rosalinda, another Mexican telenovela, and we are producing that this year. In 2008, we will launch the "Pinoy Idol" which is the Philippine version of American Idol.
What are your plans for MIPTV?
We will meet new distributors and strengthen our ties with our old contacts. We will also be on the look-out for new and exciting formats that may appeal to our viewers.
