What are your acquisition strategies?
Our acquisition strategies vary depending on if we are acquiring a film, a library or music programming. Some producers consistently feed us films and programming, while at other times we proactively search for film catalogs or producers who are holding onto a collection of titles. We also seek out stand-alone films that we find from various agencies, film festivals and press that we as a company feel are a perfect fit for what we do.
What products are you looking for?
We have two divisions. For our film division, we look for action, horror, thrillers, family films and definitely feature documentaries. We try and find films with an edge or ones that can appeal to foreign markets. On the music side, we are open to music-based media and prefer rock, hip-hop, reggae and legendary artists/groups; we tend to stay away from electronic music. We are currently focusing on acquiring music-based feature bios; true stories appeal to us.
What are your key acquisition deals in 2008?
We have just acquired a catalog of titles from SPECTACULAR FILMS, which includes over 20 martial arts films from 1973-1983 starring Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.
We are in our first quarter and are working on some really exciting things as we write this. We have a lot of new acquisitions pending, but I am not able to disclose anything at the moment.
What are your plans for MIPTV?
MIPTV is always one of our strongest markets. We have a lot of new television programming. In particular, we have a new special on the history of Mercedes Benz and a 43 x Ѕ hour top-of-the-line extreme sports package. The market has been over-saturated with a lot of low-end quality sports programming, and we believe this package stand above the rest.
