Viewpoints: acquisitions strategies
Jacques Mathieu What are your acquisition strategies? Ztele is a specialized channel broadcasting fictional and non-fictional programs on paranormal, sci-fi and technology. We are looking for the best fiction in those genres. We are also looking for entertaining and spectacular documentary series dedicated to a young male adult audience.
What products are you looking for? In fiction, we mainly look for action series (Paranormal, Sci-fi, Fantastic) where each episode is a different story. We mainly acquire those series from the Major Distributors but we are also looking for new concepts all around the world. In non-fictional, we look at series where knowledge meets entertainment such as Mythbusters, How it's made. What were your key acquisition deals in 2007? Ztele did very well last year with "Eureka" (NBC Universal) and "Torchwood" (BBC Worldwide). "Mythbusters" and "Guinea Pig", a new Canadian non-fictional series brought us interesting figures. What are your plans for MIPTV? Since we stay in constant relations with the largest distribution companies in fiction, we try to discover new entertaining series in the non-fictional genres for our audience. |
