Viewpoints: acquisitions strategies

What are your acquisition strategies?
As for documentaries, we look for high quality works with strong messages. It is preferable to have new or exclusive information for our Japanese viewers. It is also important that the theme of the documentary is on something that is currently going on in the world. We also try to introduce works done by Asian productions and producers as much as possible. For dramas, as a public broadcaster we look for programs that can reach a wide range of audience. However, at the same time we do not want to limit ourselves to any particular genres of dramas. We pay much attention first to dramas successful in the countries where they have been aired. For animation products, we try to look for something that is different from Japanese animation but still entertaining for Japanese kids to watch.
