Rory Kennedy and Liz Garbus to Deliver Keynote at MIPDOC 2009

MIPDOC takes place in Cannes on 28 and 29 March 2009 at the InterContinental Carlton Hotel. For its 12th edition, MIPDOC will offer a richly-packed two-day programme of events, conferences and innovation. In addition to a summit on financing and sessions dedicated to virtual worlds and to co-productions, MIPDOC 2009 is also launching a MIPDOC Accelerator, a series of high-impact one-on-one meetings for matchmaking amongst industry professionals.

Award winning producer-directors Rory Kennedy and Liz Garbus will give the MIPDOC closing keynote address on "Social Change through Documentary" on Sunday 29 March 2009. Together, they will share their highly-personal visions and experiences of making socially-responsible documentary films. The format will be a moderated conversation with Lynne Kirby, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Sundance Channel.  

Award-winning filmmakers Liz Garbus and Rory Kennedy co-founded Moxie Firecracker Films in 1998. Since then they have pursued their unique filmmaking vision, producing documentaries that illuminate larger social issues by telling the stories of everyday people. Together, they produce and direct films for broadcast and cable networks, including HBO, A&E, MTV, TLC, Lifetime Television, The Oxygen Network, Court TV, Showtime, Discovery Channel, Channel 4 UK, and Sundance Channel, as well as for educational foundations and grant–makers.
