What are your acquisition strategies for 2009?
Due to a decrease of production budgets, ORF has to buy even more content that is factual and looks for co production partners in all genres. As regards to US fictional content from the major studios, ORF is already in possession of a broad range of titles, including the US-blockbusters, the most popular US series as well as a huge stock of library titles.
What genres are you looking for?
Interesting entertainment formats who work well in Europe like BBC's Dancing Stars or "Who wants to be a millionaire", US Series (in the genre of CSI, Desperate Housewives, OC California or Hannah Montana and sitcoms for access prime time) as well as interesting biographies or religion factual content. As regards to European TV movies and Series ORF's most important market is Germany, due to the language.

What products will be on demand during MIPTV 2009? Please give us your opinion.
As we also sell ORF programs, we feel a strong demand for leisure & lifestyle programming as well as on food. Wildlife and Nature is always popular, however, science, financial issues and globalization are topics, which are really hot now, due to the (financial) crisis that reaches almost everyone. |
