What are your acquisition strategies for 2009?
We are looking for programming for both the TELETOON and TELETOON Retro networks. As a destination for the best in animation, for TELETOON we are interested in cartoons as well as animated related programming such as comic adaptations or shows that mix live action with animation. We ' re especially interested in shows that will engage a boys 6-11 and teen audience. On TELETOON Retro, we celebrate the classic cartoons so will be keeping our eyes open for bygone shows with a strong nostalgic following that appeal to the whole family.
What genres are you looking for?
Kid's comedies and action shows do very well for us in our Laugh Riot and Action Force programming blocks. We ' re keen to enhance that strong performance with new comedies and action series that will appeal to Boys aged 6-11. For older cartoon fans, we are looking for primetime comedies that, like a show such as The Simpsons, appeal to both parents and their kids.
What rights are you looking for?
We look for English and French language broadcast rights as well as non-linear rights for our broadband player, VOD offerings, EST and mobile.
What products will be on demand during MIPTV 2009? Please give us your opinion.
We definitely see a shortage in boys 6-11 comedies and we would like to see more kid and teen programming that is written for today's young audiences - sophisticated, smart with nonstop laughter.
