Ines Nastasoiu
Acquisition Manager Acasa TV
ACASA TV/ PRO TV S.A.
Romania
What are your acquisition strategies?
From the very beginning, ACASA's acquisitions strategy was that of buying the best telenovelas in the market and the best Female-targeted movies and specials. This strategy is still going on, and this is one of the reasons ACASA is defined, by our public and also by Latin-American Distributors as the "channel that acquires and broadcasts only the best of the best telenovelas".
In terms of local acquisitions strategy, I have to mention Promance, our strategic partner in Romania, a company who delivers the best female- oriented local fiction in our territory. Promance products are well-known in whole Central & Eastern Europe and appreciated for the high-production quality. And not only- in last November, I had the honor to participate, along with Ruxandra Ion (CME's Channel and Programming Strategist, Vice-President MediaPro Pictures Managing Director Promance International and General Producer of all Promance products), in the Telenovela World Summit, held in Buenos Aires. Here, our products (especially Regina, Gypsy Heart and Little Angels) were very appreciated by top Latin-American telenovelas producers. In Romania, Promance's telenovelas are the best rating-generators, being market leaders all the time.
For next fall's schedule, we acquired from our strategic partner in the territory the first Romanian costume-drama telenovela, a product that is expected to go even further and break, once more, all local records.
What genres are you looking for?
The main and most important genre in our grid is the telenovela. Therefore, we are looking to acquire the best telenovelas in the market (we have Volume Deals with the major Latin American distributors and we also cherry-pick telenovelas from the distributors we don't have Volume Deals). Apart from it, we are searching also for the best female-targeted programs, such as Romantic Movies, Comedy-Romances and also specials- concerts.
What rights are you looking for?
We are interested in free TV, basic cable, but also internet and mobile rights.
What products will be in demand on MIPTV? Please give us your opinion.
As always, Fiction programs, both canned or formats will be in high-demand. More and more the content for New Media is gaining place, taking into account the big variety of offers and the diversity of new means of exploitation of this kind of programs (i.e. simultaneous multi-platform content).
