What are your acquisition strategies in 2009?
W e are looking for innovative and strong properties, actually for the 6-9 demo. Especially: Animation for 6 - 9 but with a slight tendency to an also younger skew. Plus live-action that is 9+ like ZDF's "H2O", NDR's "The Peppercorns" or KI.KA's "KRIMI.DE". Furthermore, we look for shows that additional bring interactivity. A property's international feeling plus its relevance for German kids are crucial points in finding appropriate content. Fresh ideas with respect to stories as well as programmes with mass appealing design are important, too. For KI.KA it is indispensable to acquire programs with high potential for a sustainable brand-value and a long shelf-life. To sum it up: High quality is a must. So internationally we will be mainly open to life action for the teens and pre-teens as described above as well as to quality animation series for the 6 to 9 year old viewers. The mix of the before-mentioned innovation and strong properties made KI.KA not only opinion leader in Germany's kids television but 2008 was marked by the highest share the channel ever gained of 20 %.
What genres are you looking for?
Our core target-group consists of children in the age between 6 and 9 years old. We are looking for character driven stories, good storytelling and high quality of animation in 2D and CGI. Acquired animation should be unique, innovative and gender-neutral.
What rights are you looking for?
All TV rights are a must, including online-streaming rights, are the essential basis. Sometimes, also additional rights, depending on the property.
What products will be on demand on MIPTV 2009?
