What are your acquisition strategies?
Disney Channels Worldwide looks for content that engages with our audiences - primarily through strong characters that kids 6-14 will find inspirational, and content that aligns with core Disney values such as optimism and quality. Our team of global, regional and local acquisitions heads works very closely to optimize our acquisitions and maximize our resources. Our consistent global brand positions allow us to do numerous multi-territory deals across varying territory mixes.
What products are you looking for?
For Disney Channel, creator-driven animation for kids (or girls) 6-14 is a priority along with kid-driven, family inclusive movies; for Disney XD, the priorities are comedy-driven animation and live action series featuring unique, engaging lead characters that appeals to boys 6-14 and family-friendly movies; for Playhouse Disney, age appropriate and learning focused content, with an emphasis on content that works during the bedtime hours for our 24 hour platforms.
Can you name the most successful titles that you acquired this year?
A few local channel acquisition examples include: "Patito Feo" has been a huge success for DC Italy and DC Latin America, "Animal Mechanicals" and "Fun with Claude" have driven strong ratings for Playhouse Disney Channel UK.
What products will be in demand during MIPCOM 2009?
We expect to see a lot of interest in our "Phineas" and "Ferb" series, now standing at 100 episodes, along with the new "JONAS" live action series, starring the multi-platinum recording artists Jonas Brothers.
