What are your acquisition strategies?

The Hollywood Reporter TV (THR TV) is produced by our parent company METAN Development Group. METAN is an international media company that primarily focuses on producing and acquiring content well suited for distribution in China. With a rapidly emerging middle class of 25-35 year-olds, METAN's acquisition strategy is to find relevant and entertaining content that caters to this target market.

What products are you looking for?

We are primarily interested in non-drama formats that fit both online distribution and television broadcast. Lifestyle, reality, documentaries, and factual programs are all well received in China. For online distribution, short-form content is also of interest including animation, short comedy clips, and sports-related content (e.g., action sports, soccer, and basketball).

What products will be in demand during MIPCOM 2009?

This year at MIPCOM, we anticipate that dramas, sitcoms and films will likely take a backseat to alternative TV formats such as reality and lifestyle programs. We also believe that international content will be extraordinarily well received as many countries' media industries begin to mature, the demand (as well as supply) of content will continue to grow as well.
